On September 10, 2020, the first online workshop of the consultation team of the project ‘Public participation in environmental public hearing procedures during pandemic conditions’ was held. Besides the project team of the Association BIOM (project leader) and the Croatian Association of Experts in Environmental and Nature Protection (partner), we have gathered representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, counties, practitioners, civil society organisations, investors. The workshop participants agree that it is necessary to generally improve the legal framework for the implementation of public hearing procedures, and based on their professional years of experience they have had many suggestions on how to improve public information and participation in public insights and public presentations, in particular in a period of enhanced epidemiological measures. The focus is on greater visibility of information via web, alternative ways of informing the public and the availability of public presentations to more stakeholders through digital way of communication.

The project is co-financed by the Active Citizenship Fund in Croatia as part of the European Economic Area and the Norwegian Financial Mechanisms in 2014. – 2021. financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. The main objective of the Programme at European Union level is to “strengthen civil society and active citizenship and empower vulnerable groups.”
