Tomorrow, September 10, 2020, the first online workshop of the project “Involvement of the public in public debates in environmental protection procedures in pandemic conditions” will take place. Representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, authorized persons, project holders for environmental impact studies, representatives of civil society, legal experts and representatives of regional self-government will participate in the discussion of the project’s consulting team.
Representatives of EKO Invest d.o.o., IRES Ekologija d.o.o. will participate on behalf of our association which is a project partner. and VITA projekt d.o.o. which with its many years of experience and professional work on projects, plans and studies in nature and environmental protection procedures will certainly contribute to the quality of the debate and finding solutions for the best possible public hearings in a coronavirus pandemic.
The project ‘Involvement of the public in public hearings in environmental procedures in pandemic conditions’ started with the implementation of 1.6.2020. in cooperation with the BIOM Association (project leader) and the Croatian Association of Nature and Environmental Experts (partners). The main goal of the project is to support the continuity of public discussions, especially public presentations related to the main assessment of the acceptability of the project for the ecological network, environmental impact assessment and strategic environmental assessment in conditions where large gatherings are still limited. In addition, the project will provide guidance to better inform the public and support the public in public consultation procedures. The project is co-financed by the Fund for Active Citizenship in Croatia as part of the European Economic Area and the Norwegian Financial Mechanisms 2014-2021, which are financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. The main goal of the Program at the level of the European Union is “Strengthened civil society and active citizenship and empowered vulnerable groups.”
